Randy Moss comes out of retirement and signs a 1yr contract with the 49rs

This week I am switching it up a little bit from my usual female sports reporting. However in light of the new NFL free agent up rise I feel it is appropriate to comment one of the greatest to come out of retirement, Randy Moss.
Randy Moss, the seven time pro bowler has made his long anticipated return to the NFL with the San Francisco 49rs. Ever since the veteran wide receiver has announced his intent to put the pads back on and return to the NFL, it has had fans on the edge of their seats to see where the 35 year old will end up.
In a crowded free agency for wide receivers, Moss must prove his physical stature is up to par after 13 seasons of retirement. Earlier in the month there was speculation that Moss was toying with the idea of playing for the Denver Broncos, or New Orleans Saints however he ended up signing a one year contract with the 49rs under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The 49rs have been on point with their tight-ends and their ability to run the ball, especially last year, so it makes perfect sense that they were in the market for a receiver.
Although Moss is clearly a skilled and powerful player being that he has played in the Pro Bowl seven times throughout his active career, however it was his work ethic and attitude before his retirement that make coaches and players hesitant to sign him.
Moss initially opted for retirement siting that is was for "personal reasons outside of football," however he intended to make a return in 2011 but decided to give his body one more year to train.
In the time of just one season Moss has completed more than 1000 yards receiving, ten times. He is second to Hall of Famer Jerry Rice who has done it 14 times.
Needless to say, Moss has undeniable talent and it should be interesting to see how he decides to use it in the up coming season starting September 5th.

Erin Andrews files for yet another lawsuit against stalker

This past Thursday, ESPN sports reporter Erin Andrews filed for another lawsuit against the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt, where she claimed that hotel staff gave out information of her room number to Michael David Barrett where he allegedly set up hidden cameras outside of Andrews peephole. Andrews cited negligence and invasion of privacy. This case is very similar to the one that went very public in July 2010 against the Milwaukee Radisson hotel where Andrews sought more than 1 million dollars in damages. Barrett was the perpetrator in this case as well where he rented the adjacent room to Andrews and made alterations to her doors peephole. Andrews is pressing on with her fight against the hotels and against Barrett, I will report on more information as it becomes available.

Letting the ocean be the sweat for these surfer chicks

Monday marked the third day of the Roxy Gold Coast Pro Tournament for woman surfers, and at the top of the heap are Steph Gilmore and Laura Enever who are the leaders going into the quarter finals at the Snapper Rocks in Queensland, Australia. Although round three which was a non elimination round may seem less important but leading into the elimination rounds, these two are defiantly the ones to watch out for.
Enever lead the contestants by making the most out of the 3-5 foot surf. She wowed crowds with massive drops, vertical hacks and tail blows. Beating out former world champ, Carissa Moore. Enever has a history of working well under pressure, beating out top seeds when the pressure is on. But she says that her only goal is to make it to the next heats.
As for former world champ Steph Gilmore, she was on top of the competition by a spread of 5 points when fellow competitor attempted to take the lead with a no-grab air which, if executed perfectly would take Gilmore out of the top rank. However; the attempt was not successful allowing Gilmore to stay on top. Gilmore took the heat with a score of 16.73.
The tournament is expected to start early morning Wednesday, however weather conditions may delay the time of start.

Worlds first women's Olympic boxing trials looks to be one for the history books.

Airway Heights Washington was the location of the world's first Olympic trial for woman's boxing. For Marlen Esparza, Queen Underwood and Claressa Sheilds their journey now takes them to China for the world championships where they must finish in the top eight seed in their weight class to qualify for the real Olympics this summer in London.
Claressa Sheilds was the real headline, the 16 year old from Flint Michigan. Shields who had only been competing in Boxing highest levels for the past year, because she wasn't of age, validated everyone's expectations of her by beating Tika Hemingway.

Erin Andrews, Covering something other than sports??

This week Erin Andrews, famed ESPN sports reporter has announced that she will set aside her sports knowledge and will start studying up on fashion, movies and celebrities as she will be covering the 83rd annual Academy Awards.
According to USA Today in a recent post, Andrews will be covering the event with former ESPN anchor, Robin Roberts.
Andrews has had some experience with the arts by competing on the latest season on Dancing With the Stars, she finished in third place. I guess she isnt completely ready to hand in the sneakers for dancing shoes.
Andrews played with the idea of permanently covering entertainment as her ESPN contract is soon to expire. But instead she has chosen to have her cake and eat it too as we will see her cover both topics.
“What am I doing here. I’m out of my element. I’m breaking Oscar.” joked Andrews as she comments on her transition from field to heels.

So what?

Well this is my first post so I figured I would just start off by saying a little something about what I want in life, I feel like that is the way you really get to know someone, by discovering who they want to be. I am going to school in hopes to land a job where I can go to sporting events for free. Sounds shallow I know however; nothing beats the feeling you get at a football game when your team is down by 2, the clock is on its last couple of ticks and the coach makes the daring call to go for it and try for 3 points to win the game instead of settling for a tie. Standing on the sideline and hearing the players shout out calls of inspiration and energy to fellow teammates while the roar of the crowd makes it hard to even concentrate is feeling that I need to have again and again. My life would be seemingly perfect if I could call myself an ESPN journalist, or pretty much any profession where I can talk and write about sports. I want to break the barriers of the male dominated industry and take the reins for myself. I hope to be the Lady on the Field.
